Gujarat will be abuzz with hectic political activities for the rest of July as the state prepares to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and the RSS leadership from Thursday.

The RSS events will begin from Prabash Patan, seat of Somnath, with the annual Prant Pracharak meet and conclude with the PM’s visit on July 20. In between, both Shah and Gandhi will mark their presence in the politically important state.

With less than a year to go for the next general elections, RSS functionaries will go into a huddle in Somnath to chart out a strategy for the next one year.

On Thursday, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will hold a meeting with local functionaries and a Sadhbhavana meet with invited community leaders. He will be in Somnath till July 18 as Prant Pracharak from across India will gather for the three-day annual camp from July 15. “During the meet, the organisation will take stock of things done so far and device a strategy for the next year,’’ said an RSS source.

Gandhi will begin his two-day tour on July 16 from Bhavnagar, which is 200 km away from the RSS makeshift camp for the week. “Rahulji will meet workers at Alang ship-breaking yard, farmers at Methala village near Mahuva taluka. He is also likely to visit Ramkathakar Morari Bapu at his ashram in Talaja of Bhavnagar,’’ said a Congress leader.

In Bhavnagar, Gandhi may meet farmers who have been protesting against the acquisition of their land by Gujarat Power Corporation Limited.

BJP chief Shah is expected to land in Ahmedabad on July 13 and attend Mangla aarti at Lord Jagannath Temple in Kalupur ahead of annual rathyatra.

Modi, during a day-long tour on July 20, will inaugurate PM Awas Yojana in Valsad, attend an event at Junagadh Agriculture University and convocation of Forensic Science University in Gandhinagar. The PMO is yet to issue the final itinerary.
