Four months to polls, minister vows to fill 54,000 vacant teacher posts
Devnani’s claim comes 4 months after Cabinet announced to issue notification for 108 types of 1.08 lakh jobs
A Rajasthan minister on Monday said 54,000 appointments will be made soon to fill as many vacant posts of school teachers in the state. Minister of state for school education Vasudev Devnani made the claim while taking part in a video conference with Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar.
The minister’s statement assumes significance coming barely four months before Rajasthan goes to polls in December this year. It also comes four months after the state cabinet, headed by chief minister Vasundhara Raje, decided to issue notification for 1.08 lakh government jobs in various departments. State parliamentary affairs minister Rajendra Rathore had then said that the notification of 108 types of 1.08 lakh jobs will be released by April-end and recruitment process will be completed by July in a phased manner.
It is not yet clear how many appointments have been made by now.
In fact, the Opposition Congress has been targeting the government on failing to fulfill its promises on job creation with party’s state chief Sachin Pilot claiming that the BJP had in the last assembly elections promised employment to 15 lakh youths, but could not achieve “even 10 per cent of the target”.
During Monday’s video conference with all education ministers of the country, Javadekar said 117 districts have been chosen as aspirational districts where the government wants to ensure all-round development. Of these, the government will state work in 99 this year, while work in others will start next year.
He asked the ministers to ensure that textbooks were provided in all schools by July.
He said state governments should provide domestic connections for electrification in schools.
In Rajasthan, Baran, Dholpur, Sirohi, Karauli and Jaisalmer have been chosen as aspirational districts.
Devnani sought a special grant for aspirational districts in the state. He sought more help from the centre for upgradation and development of schools in Rajasthan and for providing quality education.
He said textbooks have been made available across the state under the Right to Education Act. The government is making attempts to provide quality education to students in the desert and tribal areas, he said.
He said ICT labs have been set up in all senior secondary government schools and focus is on ensuring learning outcomes in schools which have led to improvement in the education sector.
Devnani said the government is making efforts to provide computer education in all schools and 10,673 panchayat education officials have been given laptops for this purpose.
He said power connections and toilets for boys and girls have been provided in all schools.
