Four from Karauli, 3 from Dholpur drown in pond

THE POND FOR SWIMMING, UNAWARE OF THE DEPTH OF WATER

Four children who went for swimming in a pond drowned in Karauli on Tuesday.

Farmers grazing their cattle in the nearby forest, informed villagers about the incident who pulled out the children from the pond and rushed to government hospital of Hindaun City where they were declared brought dead. The incident took place in Ekorashi village under police station Sadar of Hindaun City when four children reached the pond for swimming, unaware of the depth of water. The deceased were identified as Sonu Kumar (8), Aman Kumar (10), Fata (10) and Lachcho Kumari (11).

Circle officer of Hindaun City police Jay Singh Nathwat said that after being informed, police team reached the spot. The bodies have been handed over their families after postmortem.

Deceased Sonu Kumar’s father Dinesh Singh said children of the village generally play with each other. Around at 12pm, four of them reached the pond for bathing.

In a separate incident, two children, who went for swimming, drowned in Parwati river in Dholpur on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Deepak Jatav (10) and Krishna Jatav (8). On the same day, another 20-year-old youth, Sadir Khan drowned in Damoh waterfall in Dholpur.

6 KILLED, 3 INJURED IN 2 SEPARATE ACCIDENTS

Six people were killed and three others injured in two separate road accidents in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district on Tuesday, police said.

A jeep collided head-on with an oil tanker near Palana village on the Bikaner-Jodhpur highway, killing five people, said Subhash Bijarniya, the SHO of Gangashaha­r police station. The deceased were identified as Alpu Ram Jat (27), Kanaram Jat (70), Suresh Jat (35), Shivraj Jat (30) and Jagdish Jat (43), he said. In another incident, one person died and three others were injured in a collision between two trucks, the police said.
