Ajmer school sodomy: CWC seeks report from police

Taking suo motu cognizance on media reports about the alleged sexual abuse of a class 11 students by his seniors at the Mayo College in Ajmer, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairperson on Friday sought a report from the police.
“We have asked for an investigation report and we will send a fact-finding committee in the next two days to the school to take a first-hand report on the incident,” said CWC chairperson Dimple Sharma. “We will also investigate the alleged use of drugs in the school,” she added. “The detailed report will be submitted to the government,” said Sharma.
Child and women welfare minister Anita Bhadel said that her ministry is keeping a close watch on the incident. “The incident is shocking and whosoever is found guilty after the investigation will be given exemplary punishment,” the minister said.
A class 11 boy was allegedly sexually abused by six class 12 boys multiple times between June 10 and 26. The matter came to light after the victim’s father lodged an FIR at the Alwar gate police station.
Meanwhile, NSUI and Youth Congress members burnt the effigy of the college principal and demanded the arrest of the six accused. “We will intensify our agitation if the school or police administration tries to dilute the investigation,” said district NSUI president Mohit Malhotra.
