Fourth walker out as Sandeep gets disqualifi­ed from men’s 50km race

India’s Sandeep Kumar was disqualifi­ed during the men’s 50 kilometre race walk on Thursday. Sandeep received three official warnings during the race which led to his disqualifi­cation.

Hayato Katsuki of Japan won gold with a time of four hours, three minutes and 30 seconds. This was the fourth instance an Indian long distance athlete was disqualifi­ed.

Earlier in the Games, Baby Soumya was disqualifi­ed in the women’s 20km race walk. In the men’s 20km race walk too, national record holder KT Irfan and Manish Rawat were disqualifi­ed.

DANISH, JYOTI ENTER KURASH PRE-QUARTERS

India’s Danish Sharma and Jyoti Tokas advanced to the pre-quarterfin­als of their respective kurash events.

Danish defeated Indonesia’s Muhammad Alfais 3-0 in the men’s 90 kg category and Jyoti trumped Thailand’s Prawanwit Meesri 1-0 in the women’s 78kg category.

HARDEEP, GARIMA LOSE IN JUDO PRE-QUARTERS

Indian judokas Harshdeep Singh Brar and Garima Choudhary crashed out in the pre-quarterfin­als of their respective events.

Hardeep lost to South Korea’s Seungsu Lee 3-10 in men’s 81kg category. In the women’s 70kg event, Garima lost to Gulnoza Matniyazov of Uzbekistan 0-10.

MOUMA BOWS OUT OF SINGLES TABLE TENNIS

Mouma Das crashed out of the women’s singles table tennis competitio­n.

The 34-year-old suffered a 0-4 defeat against Taiwan’s Szuyu Chen in a Round of 32 affair. Chen outclassed Mouma 11-6, 11-5, 11-6, 11-6 to advance to the pre-quarters of the competitio­n.
