UDAIPUR: Modi in initial days of his government came up with the slogan ‘Na khaunga, na khane dunga’. Now, Modi needs to change this slogan to ‘Na bataunga and batane dunga’

KAPIL SIBAL , Congress leader

Former union minister and Congress MP Kapil Sibal on Saturday attacked the BJP government on the Rafale deal asking why the government was not making the price public.

Addressing a press conference in Udaipur, Sibal targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying, “Modi in initial days of his government came up with the slogan “Na khaunga, na khane dunga (Neither do corruption, nor allow others do corruption)”.

Referring to the Rafale deal, Sibal said, “Now Modi needs to change this slogan to “Na bataunga and batane dunga. (Will not disclose anything and will not allow others to do so)”.

Sibal said when the fighter planes were purchased at the time of prime minister Manmohan Singh’s government, every information was shared, but the Modi government is not sharing details about Rafale deal.

The National Democratic Alliance’s decision to enter a $8.7 billion government-to-government deal with France to buy 36 Rafale warplanes made by Dassault was announced in April 2015, with an agreement signed a year later. This replaced the previous United Progressive Alliance regime’s decision to buy 126 Rafale aircraft, 108 of which were to be made in India by the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.

Pankaj Sharma, former state Congress secretary, said the Congress has asked senior party leaders to visit different states and talk about the Rafale scam by the Modi government and Sibal was in Udaipur in that connection.
