‘No need to campaign on Cong line, BJP strong at booth level’
: Union minister and convener of BJP’s state election management committee, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said the party will hold direct dialogue with its booth level workers in the forthcoming assembly elections.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Shekhawat targeted the opposition Congress. “There is no need for us to run ‘My booth, my gaurav’ like campaign (of Congress), as BJP’s organisation at the booth level is already in a strong position.”
“Each five booths have a Shakti committee (in state). With the conveners of all Shakti committees of Barmer, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur districts, the national president (Amit Shah) will discuss the electoral preparations on September 16,” he said, adding that Shah will also address the conference of BJP’s Youth Morcha workers of three districts and then talk to leaders of all sections of the society.
Shekhawat said BJP does not believe in politics of division and the party has only one agenda, that of development. “Some people are spreading confusion about the amendment in the SC/ST Act for political gain. The amendment made in the Act is also clear that arrest should be done only if necessary,” he added.
He said the state and central governments have focused on the development of all sections and areas in the last four years. “In 2013, when elections were held in the state, the financial condition of the state was bad due to the financial irregularities and policy paralysis of the previous Congress government. In Jodhpur, Jodhpur Development Authority and the municipal corporation were battling severe financial crisis,” he said, adding that the present state government has improved the situation while maintaining efficient financial management.
Claiming people’s confidence in the “good governance” by BJP, the union minister said voters will support the party in the coming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
When asked about Shiv MLA Manvendra Singh, who said he is feeling neglected in the BJP and organising Swabhiman Rally, Shekhawat said, “If he feels he is being neglected in the party, he should talk to the senior leaders of the party and elder members, not hold Swabhiman Rally.”
