Launching a scathing attack on BJP, AICC general secretary and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, in a conference on Sunday, urged people to save the country from the fascist forces.

“Take these elections differently, the Vajpayee government could come to power due to just one vote. Even CP Joshi lost by one vote. Understand the value of vote. Ensure heavy polling to teach them (BJP) a lesson,” Gehlot said.

Addressing the Quami Ekta conference by Peace Mission Society, an NGO at Birla Auditorium, Gehlot said BJP president has said the party would remain in power for next 50 years, if it wins 2019 polls. “They have no faith in democracy. Win one more time, change and slay the constitution and rule for 50 years like it happens in China and Russia. The statement shows that fascist thoughts. He (Shah) intentionally or unintentionally has expressed the thoughts of BJP and RSS. Give us one more chance than there will be no need of elections. They are conspiring to kill peoples’ right to vote.”

The conference was aimed to promote social harmony and witness participation of representatives from different communities.

Taking a further dig at the ruling party, State Congress President Sachin Pilot said, “The chief minister is taking out Gaurav Yatra where after her speech, she is does not bother to ask people if they are happy. If a person wears black, they aren’t allowed to participate in the meeting unless they take it off.”

Hindu saint Laxmi Shankarcharya said, “Some people involved in politics of religion are trying to drive a wedge between two Hindus and Muslims. They will not succeed once we understand our religion first and then of others.”
