RCA’s in-principle nod to new rules
JAIPUR: IN THE EXECUTIVE MEETING, MEMBERS DISCUSSED THE AMENDMENT ISSUE WITH ADVOCATES
To bring in cricket reforms suggested by a Supreme Court-appointed committee, the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has given its in-principle approval to amend its constitution.
The decision was taken during the annual general body (AGA) meeting on Monday. This was preceded by a meeting by executive committee members, comprising RCA president CP Joshi, secretary RS Nandu, joint secretary Mahendra Nahar, vice-president Mohammed Iqbal and executive committee member Krishna Kumar Nimawat. AGM was held for 15-20 minutes.
In the executive meeting, members discussed the amendment issue with advocates, said Joshi.
“Thereafter in the evening, AGM was held and it was decided that president, secretary and treasurer will sign after making some more amendments in the constitution. We have no dispute now,” said Joshi. The amendments would comply with the BCCI and Sports Act, he added. The amendments were expected to be signed by office-bearers by late night and sent to BCCI, according to Joshi.
Joshi said the general meeting was called, following a Supreme Court order.
He said the Supreme Court had asked RCA to tweak its constitution by September 20, as per the Lodha Committee recommendations. According to these amendments, RCA officials will make policies, while the chief administrative officer (CAO) will implement them. CAO will be appointed once BCCI accepts amendments to the RCA constitution.
“We would like to take the advantage of today’s meeting and remove the differences between us. We had organised IPL (Indian Premier League) after a court order. We are trying to work together,” he said.
Commenting on a complaint filed by the Modi Group against RCA for allegedly undermining state cricket, Joshi said everybody had a right to file their grievance.
