: Six people were arrested here on Monday on the charges of dacoity and kidnapping a businessman on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

The kidnapped businessman was earlier found in Buddh Vihar colony after some locals informed police about a man lying in the hedges. The locals told police that some men came in an SUV and dumped him in the bushes.

City-based businessman Mukesh Mittal was kidnapped from his house in posh Moti Doongri colony near the house of Alwar City MLA Banwari Singhal.

“Six people came on foot around 10 pm to his house and held two security guards hostage at gunpoint. Later, they locked the family in a room and decamped with ₹19 lakh,” said Alwar superintendent of police Rajendra Singh. Police were informed about the case at 10.30pm.

“The robbers took Mittal in his car,” the SP added. Mittal is owner of an agency of Maruti Suzuki. The officer said police began checking vehicles on all exit routes of the district.

“Around 11am, we recovered Mittal’s abandoned car in Dhobhi Gatta. While our teams were scanning the area, we received information about a man being dumped in hedges in Buddh Vihar Colony close by,” Singh added.

The SUV was spotted during barricading by Tatarpur police station. “Four men jumped out of the vehicle and began running towards fields off the road. When our men chased them, the fifth man at the wheels of the SUV sped away. We caught the four and the SUV and the fifth man was held at another point,” the SP said.

Police said Mittal’s former employee, Bhupendra Singh, 25, was behind the crime. “He involved the others. All accused, but one, are from Alwar. One of them is from Rohtak (Haryana),” the police officer said. The arrested are Sonu Singh (21) of Rajgarh, Bhupendra Singh of Al- war City, Vishvendra Singh (25) of Malakhera, Monu Singh (26) and Tunnu Sharma (20) of Mundawar and Karan Singh (20) of Rohtak.
