Hundreds of supporters of a sand mafia attacked a police station and succeeded in snatching a sand-laden tractor trolley in Dholpur district on Monday night.

The incident happened at the Kaulari police station when the police seized a tractor trolley carrying illegal sand. Later, supporters of the sand mafia reached the police station armed with sticks and illegal weapons and managed to run away with the tractor trolley.

They attacked the cops with sticks and also fired gunshots, while police personnel hid themselves to save their lives.

The policemen informed the police control room about the attack, following which additional police force was sent to the police station. Miscreants fled the spot before the help arrived.

Police seized more tractor trolleys carrying illegal sand from a forest between Sarakna and Kurendhna villages under the Kaulari police station.

Kaulari SHO Ramkesh Jorwal said a complaint was registered against Hait Singh Gurjar and others under various sections.

“They opened fire and pelted stones on cops to take back the seized tractor trolley,” he said, adding that two cops were injured in the attack.
