‘Spent ~250 cr on roads, community facilities’
Basic infrastructure was developed in residential colonies. Entertainment facilities were added to amusement parks. The UIT chairman says Bikaner is being developed as a green city.
BIKANER:
How has UIT changed the face of Bikaner in the past four years?
Poor roads and inadequate infrastructure were a major concern for UIT in the past few years. We spent about ~250 crore in the past four years to strengthen our road network and develop community facilities and parks. Residential colonies developed by UIT were lacking basic infrastructure for years and we tried to provide them roads, lights, and parks. Garbage collection boxes have been put up at identified points to streamline waste disposal and management system in the city. About 300 development works are in the pipeline. We have developed parks in every sector of a colony; community centres are there and we plan to add entertainment facilities in amusement parks. Develop- ment of a sports complex is on the cards. We are working to develop infrastructure to make the city liveable and attractive. We want to develop Bikaner as a green city.
How much was spent on them?
We spent approximately ~250 crore in the last four years and ~313 crore is proposed for 2018-19.
What are the projects that UIT showcases as the biggest achievements?
Completion multipurpose Ravindra Rang Manch and makeover of historical Soorsagar Lake are the two main objectives we achieved. Laying the finest road network is our another success.
