Cong frustrated over yatra: CM

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday said the Congress is “frustrated” over the public support to Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra and “making all efforts” to stop it, but the party will “never succeed” in its intentions.

“There is commotion in Congress because we are giving smart phones to our one crore sisters under Bhamashah Digital Scheme. We want to strengthen women, want to inform them about the government schemes through mobile phones and want to connect them to country and world, but Congress is protesting this,” said Raje, while addressing public meetings at Ramgarh and Tijara in Alwar district.

“The women are free to take phones of any company, but despite that the Congress is protesting,” she added.

Raje, however, stayed away from former union minister Jitendra Singh’s statement, in which he had said that her ‘Gaurav Yatra’ should be called as ‘Mafi Yatra’ hinting that she should express regret for stalling development work in Alwar.

On Thursday, Singh had alleged that although no major development work was done during Raje’s tenure in Rajasthan, but Alwar “suffered the most”.

“Metro train from Alwar to Delhi, water project to Alwar, ESI hospital was not started even after the completion of building worth ~800 crore for the last four years, medical college sanctioned in budget was yet to be opened, mini secretariat, which was to be built, is still pending and there is no progress on Sainik School that was sanctioned during Congress regime,” he said.

He said the district people want reply from Raje as why these projects were left pending during her regime.

“Therefore, she should pass through Alwar district apologising to people and feeling sorry,” he added.

Raje said, “We took loan of ~1290 crore from National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) and started development work of 38 roads of 630 km in Alwar district by spending ~932 crore.”

“Works have started on seven drinking water projects worth Rs 358 crore in Alwar, Rajgarh, Tijara, Behror, Bhiwadi, Kishangarh Bas and Khairthal. Development works of 450-kmlong roads by spending ~470 crore and five drinking water projects by spending ~240 crore will be completed by December 2018 and remaining works will be completed by March 2019,” she added.

Raje said former chief minister Ashok Gehlot did not speak a word in the assembly for farmers, women or any section, but today when elections are round the corner, suddenly he has come out and acting to be a well wisher of the people.

“Had he made some efforts for uplift of people during the 50-year-rule of Congress, then this would not been the situation of Congress,” she added.

She said her government has waived off loan up to ~50,000 of farmers, while Congress only spoke.

Congress has always been demanding to reduce the price of petrol and diesel, but did what they do to reduce the price, while her government has reduced value added tax (VAT) by 4% and price of petrol and diesel has reduced by ~2.50 per litre.

Congress leaders could not be reached for comments.
