City’s record goal-scorer Sergio Aguero extended his stay with the Premier League champions on Friday, signing a one-year contract extension.

The 30-year-old Argentina international -- who broke the record last season and whose tally stands at 204 -- put pen to paper on a deal that will see him through to the end of the 2021 season. “My idea was being here for 10 years. I’ve been here for seven years, it’s going to be 10 when the contract expires,” said Aguero.

DE BRUYNE TO RETURN

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is recovering ahead of schedule from a knee injury and hopes to return to action against Manchester United in the Premier League in November.

The Belgium international picked up the injury in training last month but hopes to return in time for the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium on November 11. “I still need three, four, five weeks, but I’m getting there,” he said.

RONALDO IN ACTION

Cristiano Ronaldo picks himself up and gets back to business in Serie A against Frosinone on Sunday after his return to Spain in the Champions League ended in a tearful sending off against Valencia.

Ronaldo collapsed dramatically on the pitch after being handed a controversial red card just days after his first goals for Juventus saw the champions keep their 100 percent record to pull three points clear at the top of the Serie A table.
