I will contest poll against CM, says IPS officer’s wife
: The wife of an IPS officer said she would contest assembly polls against chief minister Vasundhara Raje as an independent in Jhalarapatan constituency, emphasising that her aim is to fight corruption in the political system and bureaucracy.
Raje has been elected as an MLA since 2003 from Jhalarapatan in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district. “The present state government has become an epitome of corruption and dictatorship, so I will contest against the head of the government,” said Mukul Pankaj Chaudhary, 36, wife of IPS officer Pankaj Chaudhary. “Neither caste nor region nor any other aspect is bigger than the country, so I will contest against Raje in the interest of the common man.”
Mukul is the daughter of former woman law minister Shashi Dutta in the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government in 1993. Her father Som Dutta is a retired Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) officer.
“Jhalarapatan is my birthplace where my father got his first posting; my mother had worked as a criminal lawyer in Jhalarapatan,” said convent educated Mukul, who did her graduation from the International College for Girls, Jaipur. She is now pursuing law studies. “I will go to Jhalarapatan soon to start my election campaign.”

Chaudhary, a 2009 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, is presently posted as the superintendent of police, State Crime Records Bureau. He was in the news for his action.
Pankaj was transferred during the former Congress government for opening the crime records of Gazi Fakir in western Rajasthan.
He was also shifted as SP from Bundi district under the present BJP government after he arrested over a dozen saffron brigade activists accused of rioting in Nainwa region. Pankaj was also served a charge sheet by the Raje government.
Jhalawar district BJP president Sanjay Jain Tau said, “Everyone is welcome to contest against the chief minister. Even if Congress president Rahul Gandhi contests from Jhalarapatan, Raje will win.”
He added, “BJP workers will ensure a bigger victory for Raje from Jhalarapatan this time.”
