Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi to woo SC voters in Bikaner
: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are eyeing the large scheduled caste vote bank in Bikaner division and both parties have planned back-to-back public meetings in the region.
BJP national president Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Bikaner on October 4 while Congress president Rahul Gandhi is expected to address a big rally on October 9.
BJP has planned a meeting of with Scheduled Caste (SC) community members whereas Congress is planning a big public meeting at Maharaja Karni Singh Stadium.
According to a senior BJP leader, Shah during his one-day visit will attend two party programmes.
He will address ‘Shakti Kendra’ workers in Bikaner while the venue for the meeting with the SC community is yet to be finalised, a senior party leader said.
The BJP has invited all district presidents, SC wing presidents, SC representatives of municipalities and corporations, Zila Pramukh and Pradhans to the meeting.
Party sources said that the meeting could be held in Sriganganagar district because two important seats reserved for the SC category are in Sriganganagar.
Bikaner division has the maximum number of SC voters (35%) of the state. The division comprises districts of Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar and Hanumangarh.
The constituency has 25 seats of which five are reserved for SCs.
The reserved seats are Pilibanga in Hanumangarh, Raisinghnagar and Anupgarh in Sriganganagar, Khajuwala in Bikaner and Sujangarh in Churu.
