As seasons get longer, clubs are gradually starting to recruit players who can live up to their billing and last the distance KOLKATA: KOLKATA: GOOD KOLKATA: BAD UGLY

6 DAYS TO GO

Jamshedpur FC’s Subrata Paul and Kerala Blasters’ Anas Edathodika will miss the first three games of the ISL season as they would be serving suspensions carried forward from last season. They were part of the Super Cup quarter-final last year between FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC which saw six red cards and had the teams beginning the second half with eight players each.

The Paris SaintGermain Bartholomew Ogbeche played for was a lot different from what it is now but the NorthEast United forward said while money helps build a team, it certainly does not guarantee success. “If you are not performing as a team, inspite of money you will not be successful,”said the 33-yearold Nigerian forward. During Ogbeche’s time at PSG, Ronaldinho was a teammate and asked about it, he said it was an experience words could not describe. Tim Cahill is Australia’s leading goalscorer, got their first goal in a World Cup and played in four of them but switch the conversation to cricket and he is just as comfortable.

“Sachin Tendulkar is my alltime favourite cricketer but now I admire Virat Kohli a lot. I follow him on social media platforms and I like his passion. He also comes across as a guy who gives back a lot to his people,” said Cahill, an Everton legend who has netted five times for Australia across four World Cups --including the country’s first two goals, against Japan in Kaiserslautern in 2006, that produced a remarkable comeback win --- and won the Asian Cup in 2015. Cahill also said he is ‘friends’ with Brett Lee and that he spoke to David Warner Two years after his retirement, Ljungberg was signed by Mumbai City in 2014. His lack of match fitness showed as he never quite managed to stay fit. After 170 minutes of action in the ISL, he finally called it a day.
