The forensic science laboratory (FSL) report confirms that the notes written in the diary recovered from Sahil Rajpal, 32, who is accused of blackmailing several people in Rajasthan, match with his handwriting.

Sahil Rajpal, 32, the grandson of senior BJP leader and former state minister Radhey Shyam Ganganagar, was arrested on August 10 last year on the charges of impersonating as the Anti Corruption Bureau officials to blackmail several people.

HT has a copy of the FSL report.

The diary is one of the most important evidences in the case. Before every spoof call, Rajpal would “rehearse” by writing down important notes in his diary, police said.

In the diary, Rajpal had taken notes of ACB’s cases, names and designations of ACB officials who worked on such cases and the list of people he could cheat.

Transcripts of Rajpal’s conversations with one of the PHED officials whom he tried to blackmail were also found in the diary.

“The FSL report has confirmed that the handwriting of the notes written in the diary is similar to handwriting of Rajpal,” said IPS Tejaswini Gautam, the then investigation officer and superintendent of police-II for the ACB.

Seven pages from the diary were admitted and tested by the FSL and its report was presented before the special ACB court on September 19, 2018.

The forensic report said, “Similar nature of vertical start of letter (Hindi) ‘ma’, cyclet at lower part, upward movement of bridge stroke and continues formation staff. Similar nature of start of body of letter (Hindi) ‘ka’ from bottom of staff, left body oval, right body and finish. Similar manner of execution of letter(Hindi) ‘ha’, ‘ja’, ‘pa’, ‘ya’, ‘ra’, ‘sa’, ‘gha’, ‘cha’ etc. Similar nature of execution of digits 3.4.5.6 and 0.”

The final remarks of the FSL said, “Cumulative consideration of above said points of similarities are sufficient and significant at the above said conclusion. The conclusion was ‘checked and found correct’. These points of similarities are not due to accidental coincidence.” Rajpal claims that he is unaware of the fact that FSL report was presented before the court.

“I was not informed that FSL report is being presented in the court. I can only tell one thing that I have full faith in judiciary of this country. I will get justice very soon,” he said. Rajpal was granted bail last year in October.

A senior ACB official, who didn’t want to be named, said, “Rajpal tried to imitate ACB officer SD Sharma to extort money from a PHED official, Rajpal made down notes of how his target may react to the extortion bid.”

“Before blackmailing calls he used to prepare himself for unexpected questions by writing down notes in a diary.”

The accused used to make calls through ‘Caller ID Spoofing’. Caller ID spoofing allows you to display a phone number different from the actual number the call was actually placed.
