Met alert for heavy rain in a few dists

The meteorolog­ical department has issued an alert of heavy rainfall over the net 24 hours in few districts of the state. According to the department, active to vigorous monsoon conditions with heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in most of parts of the regions.

Thundersto­rm accompanie­d with lightening is likely over eastern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours.

The Met department stated that the well marked low pressure area over south-east Rajasthan will result in rains.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgar­h, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sirohi, Tonk and Udaipur districts and heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Nagaur, Hanumangar­h, Churu and Jhunjhunu districts.

Disaster management, relief and civil defence department has informed the district collectors of districts concerned about the weather warning and have asked them to remain alert. Even the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been asked to remain alert.

According to water resources department, Rajasthan, against the normal rains of 520.46mm from June 1 to September 23, has received 511.85mm, which is 1.65% less than normal. The state is under the category of normal rains.

Four districts - Baran, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur and Sikar have received excess rain, while 20 districts - Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgar­h, Churu, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Tonk and Udaipur have received normal rains (19% to minus 19% than normal). Seven districts - Barmer, Ganganagar, Hanumangar­h, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur and Pali fall under the category of deficit rainfall and two districts - Jalore and Sirohi are in scanty rainfall category.
