: Bharat Vahini Party president Ghanshyam Tiwari Monday accused the BJP-led governments in the state and at the Centre of “betraying” people by not enacting a law granting reservation for the economically backward among the upper castes.

Claiming it to be a fight for justice of the deprived classes, Tiwari said the BJP -- a party to which he belonged to before floating his outfit BVP -“betrayed people of the deprived communities and they would teach a lesson” in the upcoming elections.

“It is quite clear from present circumstances that the vote bank base of the BJP has slipped and the BJP in Rajasthan is set to face historic defeat,” Tiwari said at a press conference here.

Tiwari said he has been fighting for reservation to the deprived communities for the last 16 years. The classes include Brahmin, Rajput, Vaishya, Kayastha and a few muslim communities, he added.

He claimed that the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government passed the bill in the House but did not release its notification.

“It was not included in the ninth schedule of the Constitution, which requires an amendment,” Tiwari said.

It voted to power, the Bharat Vahini Party would provide the reservation benefits to the deprived communities, he said, and stressed that it would be one the major agenda of the party in the upcoming elections.
