‘Order to implement pay panel proposals will be out in 2 days’
Education minister Kiran Maheshwari on Monday announced that the order to implement the seventh pay commission recommendations for university and government college teachers will be out in two days.
At least, 1,200 university teachers and 8,000 government college teachers are likely to benefit from the step.
Maheshwari made the revelation at the 2nd Annual Higher Education and Human Resource conclave held here. Human resource and development minister Prakash Javadekar felicitated teachers from various government colleges of the state at the event.
Maheshwari also came up with ‘Vision 2022’ stating that the state education will run according to the Prime Minister’s vision to train the youth to become job providers rather than job seekers.
The minister informed that the state education ministry has signed MOUs with 10 private companies to facilitate digital learning and training at various colleges in the state.
Javadekar inaugurated digital classroom at 44 government girls’ colleges on the occasion. Dishari app designed to facilitate the college students to study for government examinations was also inaugurated by the union minister.
T Radheyshyam, the education minister of Manipur and Dhan Singh Rawat, the education minister of Uttarakhand, were other dignitaries sharing stage with Maheshwari on the occasion.
Maheshwari said that the central education ministry provided ~342 crore to all the government colleges in the state due to which several infrastructure facilities such as seminar halls and labs were constructed at various government universities of the state.
Javadekar spoke about various initiatives taken by the union government such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana and technical education quality improvement programme.
He spoke about the Prime Minister’s initiative to address the backward districts as ‘aspirational districts’.
“Rajasthan was once known as ‘BIMARU state’.”
“Several areas were backward since they did not get an opportunity to progress.”
“The Prime Minister took an initiative of calling the backward districts as aspirational districts, thereby changing the discourse since he believes in ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’,” said Javadekar.
He said the student scholarships have been increased by 55% to promote social justice and budget for education has been increased up to 70%.
In the 20-minute-long speech, the Human resource and development minister also spoke about providing interestfree loans to 8 lakh poor students, in which the government contributes ~18,000 crore to bear the interest for five years.
Later, Javadekar left for the Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) to inaugurate an innovation and incubation centre at the institute. Karanpur constituency in Ganganagar district is heavily populated with Sikh and Punjabi communities. Unlike other constituencies, Karanpur has neither been a BJP nor Congress stronghold, with both the parties romping to glory in every alternate poll.
If past election results are taken into account, one would find that Congress won in 1972, 1977 and 1980, an independent party won in 1985, BJP in 1990, Congress in 1993 and 1998, BJP in 2003, Congress in 2008 and BJP in 2013.
The parties field Sikh candidates, as the constituency being Punjabi-dominated, the general leaning is towards Sikhs. Surender Pal Singh, the BJP MLA, has a good hold on the people of this constituency as he is said to be quite active in raising money from the government for the development works.
Ganganagar BJP district president Hari Singh Kamra said a lot of development works have taken place in the constituency. The sugar mill has been shifted from Ganganagar to Kaminpur, Gaurav Paths have been constructed in all the villages, concrete cement flooring has been made in canals. Development works of more than Rs 2,500 crore have taken place in this constituency during the last four and a half years, he said.
This time too, it is expected that BJP will field Surendra Pal Singh from this constituency and even if it is some other candidate, BJP will win, Kamra said. Development works will be cited to consolidate the vote bank, he added.
Taking a dig at BJP, Ganganagar Congress president Santosh Saharan said development has only taken place on papers and not on ground. If the government claims Rs 2,500 crore has been spent, then the money has only filled the pockets of BJP leaders and hasn’t been invested on development works.
Referring to the sugar mill, he said that although BJP, during its previous tenure (2003-2008), had decided to shift the sugar mill to Kaminpur village, the Congress government during its regime Male Female

During the present BJP rule, farming machinery has been installed, but it failed the sugarcane growing farmers. The crushing machines conked up for want of proper upkeep and it’s ultimately the farmers who suffered.
Saharan said that Congress can present a host of drawbacks to the voters. Waters dried up in the canals due to which the farmers incurred heavy loss, corruption, unemployment, among others. Congress will win in the constituency as people are miffed with the present government.
