: The executive of a private company, who was allegedly shot dead by a constable in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar locality, was cremated on Sunday in the presence of state ministers Brijesh Pathak and Ashutosh Tandon, politicians, administrative officials and his family members on Sunday.

Vivek Tiwari (38) was shot dead on Saturday by constable Prashant Chowdhury, who was accompanied by another constable, Sandeep Kumar, while he was going to drop his ex-colleague Sana Khan. The two accused were later arrested.

A special investigation team , led by Lucknow Range inspector general (IG) of police Sujit Pandey started an investigation into the case. A fresh FIR against the two was registered on the complaint of Tewari’s wife even as there were allegations that local policemen were trying to fabricate the sequence of events and shield the policemen. Also, the victim’s family was provided security on threat perception.

On Saturday, an FIR under IPC section 302 of murder was lodged against unidentified constables on the complaint of Tewari’s ex-colleague Khan “without her consent”. Tewari was with Khan at the time of the incident.

The name of the two constables came to light later during investigation. Chowdhury allegedly shot dead Tewari, an area sales manager of Apple, while he tried to drive away when he was questioned by the constables in the upscale Lucknow locality around 1.30 am on Saturday, police said.

Rajeev Krishna, additional director general (ADG) of Lucknow Zone, said the fresh FIR was registered on the complaint of Tewari’s wife, Kalpana Tewari “under special provision to register fresh FIR or second FIR in the same matter.”

Another police official said the two accused were named in the second complaint. He said Kalpana Tiwari had also mentioned in the complaint that the local police registered the first FIR without the consent of the victim’s family and Khan.
