App to help resolve complaints on poll code violations
Now complaints of flouting the model code of conduct in assembly elections2018 through the cVIGIL app will be resolved within 100 minutes, informed Chief Election Officer (CEO) Anand Kumar on Monday.
He said that this app has started working in the state and people can download it from Google Play Store and can send complaints with proof.
On Monday, Kumar was addressing the participants at a state level training on using and managing the cVIGIL app, at the secretariat. The trained officers will further train other officers in their districts.
Kumar said that till now strict action could not be taken on complaints of violation of model code of conduct due to lack of sufficient evidence or proof, but now with the cVIGIL app, it will be possible to take action on the complaints within 100 minutes, through a fast track receipt of complaint and redressal system. Any person having an Android phone can download this app. This app has become effective in Rajasthan with the announcement of the assembly election dates.
“With this app, any person can send the complaint of violation of model code of conduct with a photo or video. The person need not have to run to the office of the returning officer to complain, and the identity of the complainant will be kept confidential,” said Kumar.
The Election Commission of India (EIC) has used this app to ensure effective and immediate action on complaints, he added.
The CEO also launched the ‘Raj Election App’. Voters of the state can use this app to take information about their names, voter identification number and the polling centre. Apart from this, the voter can also see all the names of his/her family members using this app. This app too can be downloaded from Google Play Store.
