Chara gang member arrested in ₹10-lakh loot in Murlipura area
The crime branch of Jaipur police arrested a member of ‘Chara gang’ on Tuesday from Ahmedabad in connection with the loot of ₹10 lakh from a bank customer in Murlipura area of the city.
₹3 lakh cash was recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Deepak Bhikha, the police said.
On October 9, ₹10 lakh were looted from Pritam Sharma in the Murlipura area of the city.
As the amount of loot was big, a special police team was formed to catch the accused. “After the incident, we started collecting evidences by extracting the CCTV footages and registers of various hotels. During investigation, it was revealed that the members of Chara gang from Ahmedabad are responsible for the loot,” said Vinit Rathore, deputy commissioner of police, crime branch.
After further investigations, police arrested Bhikha from Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Bhikah has confessed to his involvement in the crime, the police officer said.
Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, Rathore said that the gang members targeted persons coming out of banks carrying bag. “Victim Sharma had kept his bag in the car. One of the members deceived him by coming in front of the vehicle, pretending that he had been hit by the vehicle, while his two accomplices came on a bike, stole the bag and fled the spot,” informed Rathore.
During questioning, Bhikha revealed that they used to travel to Jaipur from Ahmedabad on motorbike and target people coming out of banks with a bag, he added.
