Members of the Rajput community, which of late is “miffed” with the BJP government in Rajasthan, will hold a public meeting here on Saturday to decide which party they will vote for in the assembly elections to be held on December 7.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a public meeting in the state capital on Sunday and release the party’s manifesto. On the same day independent MLA from Khinvsar and Jat leader Hanuman Beniwal will conduct a roadshow in Jaipur; he will announce a new political party on Monday at a public meeting.

Rajput Karni Sena national president Mahipal Makrana said that at the public meeting scued- uled to be held at Vidhyadhar Nagar, community members will take a decision regarding which party to support in polls.

“We demand that the Centre withdraw the amended SC/ST Act, review reservation and set up a pre-censor board, and also withdraw cases lodged against innocent people of the Rajput community in the Anandpal encounter case.”

He said Rajputs will not vote for the BJP but the Congress must clarify why the community should back it. “We have other options, such as the third front, Aam Aadmi Party and other political parties. We will decide which party to support,” Makrana said.

AAP Rajasthan in-charge Deepak Bajpai said Kejriwal will address a public meeting at Ramlila Maidan in Jaipur, and release the party’s manifesto. He said, “Kejriwal will first meet AAP manifesto committee chairman and Kisan Mahapanchayat national president Rampal Jat who is sitting on fast to press for implementation of this government’s announcements for farmers. He will then go to the venue to address the meeting.”

Beniwal will hold a 10-km roadshow in Jaipur and declare his political party at a public meeting to be held at Mansarovar, sources close to him said.
