Peppy songs add desi flavour to campaign

-

: It is the election season and a host of peppy songs in Marwari eulogising leaders such as chief minister Vasundhara Raje, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and state Congress president Sachin Pilot are adding a desi flavour to the campaign.

As political parties gear up for the campaign, several songs with fast beats and catchy lyrics lauding leaders such as Raje, Gehlot, Pilot and Jat leader Hanuman Beniwal have become a hit on social media.

Ashok Garg of Bhilwara has penned several songs for Raje and Modi. His songs such as ‘Jai BJP, Jai Bharati’ and ‘BJP Once More’, talk about the policies launched by both leaders for the welfare of the people and exhorts people to vote for Raje once again in 2018.

He has been writing and composing bhajans for the past 25 years but impressed by Modi, he made a foray into writing songs of a political nature. He said the Bhilwara UIT chairman encouraged him to pen songs on Raje and promised to pay him.

The song ‘Jai, Jai Raje, Jai, Jai Rajasthan’, penned by Satyanarayan Sain, is also popular on social media. He says he wrote the song as a gift to Raje. “The song talks of Raje’s personality and how she has worked for the welfare of Rajasthan. I am very impressed by her,” says Sain who is associated with the BJP. He is also writing another song on Raje that will be used in the party campaign.

Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have their own fan following with songs for both leaders. Songs about Pilot talk about the young dynamic leaders who is the future leader.

Laxman Gurjar of Rabariyawas village in Pali district and Nandram Gurjar of Kishangarh has written songs praising Pilot. “We admire Sachin PiIot. He is our young leader and prospective chief minister,” the Gurjars say adding they have made the songs on their own by spending around Rs 5,000-7,000.

The duo wrote, composed and sang the songs in which they extol Pilot’s virtues, claiming that he would be the chief minister.

Singer Mangal Singh’s song ‘Pilot ki Jai Jai kaar’ too is in a similar vein asking people to vote for the Congress and make Pilot the chief minister. Shivpal Chhepat, a college student, says Pilot is his role model and wrote a song that says Pilot has a large fan following around the world.

Shreeram Latiyal of Jodhpur wrote a song praising Gehlot that says the former CM is the leader of the masses. The song appeals to the people to bring him back as the chief minister. Latiyal charged Rs20,000 for the song and was given the task by Hiralal Meghwal, Jodhpur rural Congress president.

“This is the first time I sang a political song,” says Latiyal who generally sings bhajans and folk songs. He said while he is a Congress supporter, he has no qualms doing songs for the BJP or other parties.

Another song by Gehlot supporter Kumar Gautam, titled ‘Jai Ho Gehlot’, talks about the achievements of the former CM and says people should again walk the path of development and happiness.

Gajendra Ajmera has come up with songs for Jat leader and independent MLA Hanuman Beniwal. “I was inspired by Beniwal. He is hard working and is working for farmer and the soldier. I have composed and sung songs for each of his five rallies,” says Ajmera, a professional singer.

Ajmera says he has not taken any payment for the songs. Money is not everything. I made the songs because I admire Beniwal. I spend about Rs50,000 on an album.”
