Ujjwala scheme changed lives of women, says Javadekar
UNHAPPY Jhalana residents say demonetisation hit traders, mining ban led to job loss JAIPUR:Rajasthan
poll in-charge Prakash Javadekar interacted with beneficiaries of government schemes in Jhalana area of Jaipur on Sunday.
As part of the BJP’s Maha Jan Sampark abhiyan, Javadekar arrived at Brij Mohan Kansotiya’s house in Jhalana kachi basti around noon and spent an hour interacting with the family members.
At the Kansotiya’s threeroom, first-floor residence, Javadekar asked the family members if they had got benefit of the government schemes. Kansotiya said they had got Bhamashah card, a mobile phone and Ujjwala gas connection through government schemes.
Kansotiya’s wife cooked a simple lunch for Javadekar consisting of chhole, dal, raita and roti. There were pakoras and namkeen as accompaniments.
“I can understand this family’s happiness on getting a gas connection. In my house too we got a gas connection when I was in class 6. Before that we cooked on a chulha,” said Javadekar. He said the Ujjwala scheme had changed lives of millions of women for the better.
The people seemed unimpressed at the Jhalana slum that has a mainly labour population, a majority of whom are Dalits.

Anil Kumar, who runs a provision store and is associated with the BJP, said the mood on the ground is against the BJP. “Labourers and small traders have been hit by demonetisation.”
Kamal Kumar, a welder, said the BJP has ignored the Dalits. “There are mostly labourers here. The ban on mining has rendered many out of jobs.”
Vimal Kumar, who has a tailor shop, said the BJP government has not done much work for the poor. “The government should change,” he said.
The BJP leaders hope to reach out to 1 crore voters through its Jan Sampark campaign between November 2 and 4 and seek votes for the party. All BJP leaders including chief minister Vasundhara Raje and all MPs, ministers, MLAs and party workers are going door to door telling people about welfare schemes of the government.
