IIT-B placements: 3 get packages over ₹1 cr/annum
Three students from the Indian Institute of TechnologyBombay (IIT-B) were offered annual salary packages of more than ₹1 crore during the first week of placements that started on December 1. Last year, only one student from the institute bagged a similar offer.
Among IITs that have disclosed the highest annual package received by students this year, the highest — ₹1.5 crore so far (base salary plus benefits) — has gone to a student from IITRoorkee by Microsoft. At IIT-B, Microsoft, Uber, and Dutch trading firm Optiver have offered more than ₹1 crore (base salary plus benefits) as an annual package. “Overall, students are much more content with their job offers as well as the salaries this year,” said a spokesperson from the placement department of IIT-B. The spokesperson added that the highest number of offers for domestic roles were made by Microsoft, Qualcomm, BCG, Strategy & Cairn while the maximum international offers were made by NEC Japan, Microsoft, Optiver, Rubrik, Cohesity and Uber on day one.

Placements at all IITs start on December 1 and usually last around two weeks. Officials across all IITs said they have witnessed more job offers in the first week. IIT-Kanpur has pegged the increase in job offers at 30% over last year.
“Around 1,100 students have Microsoft, Uber, and Dutch trading firm Optiver have offered more than ȕ1 crore (base salary plus benefits) as annual package registered for placements this year and in the first six days itself, almost 55% students had an offer in their hands. Most are also happy with the salaries offered, which only goes to show how the market is doing well,” said professor Syam Nair, placements coordinator, IIT-Kanpur.
