Guv announces ₹50L flood relief, lauds govt’s efforts

KOTA: After making an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas in the Hadoti region on Saturday, Rajasthan governor Kalraj Mishra lauded the state government f o r r e l i e f wor k a n d announced Rs 50 lakh from the Governor fund.

Mishra made an aerial survey of Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi and Baran districts of the Hadoti region.

Addressing the media at the Kota airport, Mishra said Hadoti region has been affected by flood while Banswara, Karauli, Dholpur and Swai Madhopur districts have been affected due to heavy rain.

He said chief minister Ashok Gehlot has made survey of the f l o o d- hi t a r e a s a nd g i ven instructio­ns to the officials for flood relief. He appreciate­d the state government’s move to allocate relief funds to the vulnerable districts.

“Rescue, relief and rehabilita­tion in flood-hit areas have been carried out in a satisfacto­ry manner by the local administra­tion of Kota region,” he said.

“I have also released Rs 50 lakh of untied funds from the Governor relief fund for flood relief works in the state of which Rs 15 lakh have been allocated for Kota district and Rs 10 lakh each for Bundi, Jhalawar and Dholpur districts, and Rs 5 lakh for Baran district,” he said.

The governor also informed that government has allocated Rs 72 crore to the flood-hit districts of the state, including Kota.

“Further government has provided Rs 3800 of immediate financial assistance to every flood victim on humanitari­an grounds,” he said.

He said that there will be not be dearth of funds for flood relief.

Mishra said social organisati­ons and volunteers have provided relief for flood victims.

According to informatio­n conveyed by the Divisional Commission­er, Kota division, floodwater has receded from affected areas and situation is under control while efforts are also being done t o r e s t ore normalcy, s ai d Mishra.

The governor also took a meeting with Divisional Commission­er, Kota LN Soni, district Collector, Kota, Muktanand Agarwal and other officials and instructed them to expedite relief and rehabilita­tion works.

20000 HOUSES DAMAGED Mishra said that a total of 20000 houses have been damaged in floods in the state. He said that around 385 villages have been affected by flood in Kota division while 22000 people have been rescued by NDRF, SDRF, army and civil defence teams.

“Around 13000 people were rehabilita­ted at 99 relief camps across the state,” said Mishra.

According to a government survey, floods have caused l osses t he public property amounting to Rs 39 crore, the governor said.
