RACING CAR HITS BIKE, THREE OF FAMILY KILLED

BARMER: During a car racing rally, three people of a family were killed in Barmer district when Arjun Awardee Gaurav Gill’s car hit a motorcycle coming from the front side, officials said.

In the accident three people of a family including a woman died on the spot. The car flew away and disintegra­ted on the road. In the accident Gill himself got severe injuries after which he was taken to Jodhpur for the treatment.

On getting informed, official sof the district administra­tion and police reached the spot. Rakesh Jain, tehsildar at Samdari town in Barmer, confirmed the report. He said that it was national level car racing competitio­n organised by a Haryanabas­ed company. Jain said that a total 51 vehicles were taking part in the race.

According to Jain, when the convoy was passing near the Ranidesipu­ra villager in Hotrada village, one car hit the motorcycle coming from the front side. Jain said that in the accident three of family, who were travelling on the motorcycle, died on the spot. Jain said, “The accident was so horrific that the car flew away and disintegra­ted on the road and similar situation was of the motorcycle.”

Police identified the deceased as Nema Ram, his wife Puspa and son Jitendra, all residents of Sargara village. Hundreds of the people from nearby areas gathered at the spot and started protest. Till the last report, officials were trying to calm down the protesters.

Meanwhile, it came in light that organizers have informed the district authoritie­s about the race and ensured the required permission.
