The report revealed that the overall GER in higher education has increased from 18.2% for 2011-12 to 23% for 2018-19.
Experts said that the survey data reflects continuous developments in the education scenario of Rajasthan.
Educationist KB Kothari said that girls’ enrolment coming on a par with the boys in higher education is an outcome of continuous efforts in the field of not only higher education, but school education too.
“Girls enrolment ratio has increased for the state is a result of many efforts taken up for their convenience in higher and school education. The next thing we need to work on from here is to give girls facilities such as transportation. Even in the cities like Jaipur when a girl enrols in colleges or universities, the living and transportation costs are very high. The government needs to work on giving better hostel, transportation and other facilities to female students now,” said Kothari.
Rajasthan is one of the top eight states in India with highest number of colleges as per the report. Report also revealed that Jaipur has the second largest number of colleges in India with 566 colleges, while Bangalore tops the list of urban districts with maximum number of colleges with 800 colleges.
