Pilot hurt in accident on Gurugram road

GURUGRAM: A 48-year-old pilot was injured after a car allegedly hit the cab in which he was travelling on the Golf Course Road underpass in Sector 42 near Sushant Lok 1 around 2am on Monday.

The police said the car was all egedly speeding and t he impact of the collision was such that the pilot’s cab overturned inside the underpass.

The police added on Monday evening that the man’s condition was said to be stable and he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sector 51.

The driver of the car was unhurt, the police said, adding that the suspect is yet to be identified. According to the police, the pilot works with a private airline and is a resident of Meditech Apartments in Sector 56.

The incident took place when he was returning home from the airport in his office cab, a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

“Around 2am, I was travelling in my company’s car which was driven by the office driver Manoj. We were going towards Sector 42 from the airport. As we entered the Golf Course Road underpass, a black coloured Skoda car hit us from behind and our car toppled. I sustained severe injuries and the driver of the Skoda car fled the spot with his vehicle,” the victim stated in the first informatio­n report (FIR).

Speaking to HT, the pilot’s wife, requesting anonymity, said that he sustained injuries on the left arm and sprained his shoulders and neck.

“The car flipped at least twice and the window glass broke. Luckily, another pilot of the company who was coming from the same direction helped him, called an ambulance and took him and the cab driver to the hospital. My husband informed me about the accident when he reached there.”
