BHARATPUR: A joint team of the jail and police officials carried out a sudden inspection at the central jail at Sewar in Bharatpur dist ri ct on Sunday t o f i nd out whether gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was using a mobile phone in the jail.

Bishnoi came in limelight last year after he issued a threat from the Jodhpur central jail to kill film actor Salman Khan during the hearing of the blackbuck poaching case, following which he was shifted to the Sewar jail.

The Rajasthan police conducted the sudden inspection at the Sewar jail on Sunday evening after the Chandigarh police informed them that a Facebook post was shared from Bishnoi’s mobile phone at 1.54pm on September 28, in which he owned the responsibility of killing an alleged criminal, Sonu Shah, in Chandigarh.

“I take responsibility for the murder of Sonu Shah who was killed today (on September 28). Sonu used to harass poor people and extort money from them and supported my rivals. He used to interfere in my work in Chandigarh. My brother Kala Rana and Raju Basodi killed him at my instance. My brother Raju operates my phone. Anyone facing any problem can contact me on my Whatsapp number,” the Facebook post mentioned.

The Facebook post also mentioned that two club members were also on his target and they s hould not t ake his t hreat lightly.

After receiving information about the Facebook post, a joint team of the Sewer jail and state police officials searched the jail on Sunday evening, but did not find any mobile.

“We regularly search Lawrence Bishnoi in jail. Nothing was found from him during search operation,” said Sudhir Prakash Poonia, the jail superintendent.
