JAIPUR: A 35-year-old man from Jhunjhunu district, whose sixyear-old daughter was allegedly raped, was stabbed to death in Jhunjhunu district when he was returning from police station after lodging an FIR, police said on Monday.

However, the police said that the accused who raped the minor and the accused who killed her father are not linked to each other. “The accused who killed the father of the rape victim is his own cousin. The person who raped the minor lives in her neighborhood has been identified as Hoshiyar (20). Hoshiyar Nehra lives in neighboring house of the victim falling under Nawalgarh police station area,” said Gaurav Yadav, superintendent of police (SP), Jhunjhunu. Both the accused have been arrested, he added.

Around 3.30pm on Saturday, the minor, her mother and her grandmother were at their home when Nehra entered the home. The grandmother didn’t object as he is their neighbour and used to visit their home on regular basis. He took the minor to a separate room and sexually molested her. “A few minutes later, the victim came crying out of the room and when her grandmother entered the scene, the accused fled. After which the minor told her mother and grandmother about the incident. Further, the father of the girl came to know about the incident in evening but fearing the reputation the family members didn’t lodged an FIR,” the SP added.

On S u n d a y , the father informed his friend about the incident who further informed the police about the incident. Station house officer (SHO) of Nawalgarh police station Mahaveer Singh Rathore counselled the family members after which the father of the victim lodged an FIR.

“The minor was taken to government hospital for medical examination. Her mother and a female constable accompanied her. In between, the victim’s father was going back to his home around 5.30pm on Sunday to get the identification card of her daughter to apply for legal aid, when he was stopped on the way by his cousin, who stabbed him multiple times with a sharp knife on neck and stomach,” the police officer said.

“The victim succumbed on the spot to the injuries and heavy blood loss. The accused fled the spot. As soon as police came to know about the incident, multiple teams were formed to nab the accused cousin. On early Monday morning t he accused was arrested,” the SHO added.

According to the police, the motive behind the murder appears to be an ongoing feud between the two cousins. The accused alleged that his brother had been intentionally leaving his cattle to his farms to destroy his crops. Further investigation is on.

The minor’s family members demanded speedy probe into the matter and requested the government to help her. “Both the incidents have come as shocker for the entire family. We want justice for both my brother and niece. The investigation of both the cases should be done quickly and fairly. We have requested the police to file the chargesheet as soon as possible so that both the accused can get punishment,” the elder brother of the deceased said. “The girl is now orphaned. We request the government to help her in every manner from education to legal aid,” he added.
