Mahatma remembered through prayers, marches
To promote Gram Swaraj and Gram Udyog, Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his life. The young generation should follow his path and contribute in country’s development
JAIPUR: While the state Congress held an all-religion prayer meet and march in the walled city, chief minister Ashok Gehlot flagged off Sandesh Yatra, inaugurated blood camps and exhibitions on Wednesday to celebrate 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
In order to spread message of Gandhi related to Satyagrah, sanitation, peace, non-violence and harmony among masses, the CM flagged off Gandhi Sandesh Yatra from Shiksha Sankool, Jaipur. The yatra was participated by school students, Nehru Yuva Kendra, scout and guide, NGOS and social organizations.
The CM inaugurated blood donation camp at SMS hospital. He said, “Blood donation is a noble work, which could save lives of people.” He appealed people donate blood.
After inaugurating the exhibition based on Gandhi’s messages and Khadi fair at Jawahar Kala Kendra, he said, “To promote Gram Swaraj and Gram Udyog, Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his life. The young generation should follow his path and contribute in country’s development.”
He said to encourage khadi and gram udyog, the discount on Khadi p r o d uc t s has b e e n increased to 50%. The people should avail the discount and help in strengthening Khadi institution. The CM also inaugurated artist camp at Central park and tried his hand on painting and drew OM on canvass to encourage artists.

party office to Gandhi Chowk in walled city. The march was led by party president Sachin Pilot, and present were Gehlot, AICC general secretary Avinash Pande, Secretary Vivek Bansal, ministers, MLAS, leaders and workers.
The traders association in walled welcomed the rally at major crossings.
CM LAUNCHES GANDHI DASTKAR SCHEME
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot re-launched the Mahatma Gandhi Dastakar Nagar Yojana at Jawahar Kala Kendra and r e l e as e d t he post e r of t he scheme. Under this scheme, 660 houses will be allotted to the artisans at discounted rate. Gehlot approved to reduce the price of houses to be allotted under this scheme from Rs 16.35 lakh to Rs 14.99. The Dastakar Nagar Yojana has been developed on around 15 hectares in Nayla village near Jaipur.
Earlier t his scheme was started in April 2013 - under this scheme, a total of 750 residential unit and workshops has been constructed, out of which 90 units has been allocated.
