JAIPUR: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will undertake a comprehensive survey and videography of historical buildings in the walled city to formulate an action plan for conserving and protecting the buildings, urban development and housing minister Shanti Dhariwal said on Monday.

Dhariwal took a meeting of department officials JMC commissioner VP Singh, JMC joint secretary Ujjwal Rathore, chief city planner RK Vijayvargiya and other officials were present.

Dhariwal said the survey of heritage buildings which are of archaeological importance will begin f rom October 14 and directed officials that if the traffic diversions are required for the survey to be conducted, then officials should ensure that.

He said during the survey the construction carried out in violation of the heritage standards and encroachments in the walled city will be listed and action will be taken against them after Diwali.

He said Heritage by-laws will be implemented in the walled city soon as the formulation of the by-laws is almost complete and they are being given their final shape.

He said a bill or ordinance will be brought by the government for heritage conservation within the walled city and suggestions and objections will be sought from citizens.

Jaipur’s walled city was declared a world heritage site at the 43rd convention of Unesco in Azerbaijan in July this year. The Unesco will review the list of world heritage sites in December this year. HTC
