Prize money for govt school students increased in state

JAIPUR: The state government has increased the prize money for single girl child and meritoriou­s girl students in schools at both district and state-level, according to a statement issued by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) recently.

The money will be given to meritoriou­s girls from government schools who obtain marks equal to or more than the cut off specified by the RBSE, the statement said.

The prize money will also be given to female students who do not have siblings or have one female sibling under the ‘Aekal/ Dwiputri Yogyata Puraskaar’.

The prize money for both the awards has been increased by the RBSE. Meghna Chaudhary, secretary, Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education said that the decision was taken at the behest of the state government.

At the state level, the prize money for female students studying in class 11 and 12 in science, arts and commerce streams along with those pursuing vocational courses and appear for the Varishth Upadhyay Pareeksha (for Sanskrit medium schools) has been increased to ~51,000 from ~ 31,000. The awards for different streams at the senior secondary level are given on the basis of the marks obtained in the board exams.

Similarly, the award money given to girls studying in class 9 and class 10 for Praveshika Pareeksha (exam for Sanskrit) and vocational exams has been increased to ~31,000 from ~ 21,000.

At the district level, the award given to female students of class 11 and 12 studying in science, arts and commerce streams along with those pursuing vocational courses and appear for Varishth Upadhyay Pareeksha (for Sanskrit medium schools) has been increased to ~11,000 from the existing ~5,000.

Similarly, the award money given to girls studying in class 9 and class 10 for Praveshika Pareeksha (exam for Sanskrit) and vocational exams has also been increased to ~ 11,000 from ~5,000.

Chaudhary said that the revised prize money will also be applicable to candidates who appeared in the 2018 board exams and will be transferre­d to the bank accounts of eligible students.
