JAIPUR: The Jaipur rural police on Tuesday discovered a pipeline at Shahpura near Jaipur through which a gang used to steal diesel of a national oil company.

Jaipur rural superintendent of police (SP) Shankar Dutt Sharma said that the accused were stealing diesel from Indian Oil Company (IOC) pipeline which was running from Chaksu in Jaipur to Panipat in Haryana. However, sensing in vigilance by the officials of oil company from last few days and fear of getting caught, the accused fled the spot 15 days back.

“The IOC officials in their complaint said that the pressure of the line started dropping from last one month which indicated the oil pilferage. The department started surveying the areas from where the lines are passing and on Monday morning they came to know about a suspicious valve attachment in lines passing through a farm in Muktawalon Ki Dhani, a hamlet falling on NH-8 in Shahpura town,” said Sharma.

Seeing the suspicious attachment, the IOC officials informed the police after which senior police officials reached the spot.

“During investigation, police found that the accused dug around a 300 metre t unnel between the pipelines in farms with another pipeline located under a scrap dealer’s shop with a valve to it, which in turn was connected to a pipe. They then attached a pump to this pipe and began to draw oil from the main pipeline,” the SP added.

The senior police officer informed that in their preliminary investigation they found that the land on which the scrap shop made up of tin-sheds was made belonged to Soorajmal Gurjar.

A similar kind of racket was busted by Jaipur city police in June this month.
