JAIPUR: State BJP president Satish Poonia on Thursday hit out at the Congress government for rising communal tension and said there have been 40 communal clashes in the 10 month tenure of the government.

Referring to the communal incident in Malpura of Tonk district, Poonia claimed the violence was pre-planned and no timely action was taken by the administration.

“The wires of CCTV cameras were cut and when the Dussehra procession was being taken out the a d mi n i s t r a t i o n wa s nowhere to be seen.”

He said the government had no other way to deal with the situation except impose internet bans and curfews.

Poonia said since the Congress came to power 10 months ago, there have been 40 communal flare-ups across the state. He said the law and order situation is deteriorating and crimes against women and weaker sections have been rising consistently.

Poonia said chief minister Ashok Gehlot is the home minister but has no time to review the law and order situation as he is busy running to Delhi.

“Why is it that one community feels that when the Congress is in power, they have a free run and the majority lives in fear. This is due to Congress’s appeasement policy.”

Poonia also criticized the Congress government for insensitivity to the plight of farmers hit by excess rainfall.

Poonia said crops in 6-7 districts have been completely or partially destroyed due to heavy rains but the government is moving slowly to give relief to the farmers who have been affected.

“The girdawari was to be completed by October 15 but the process is going slowly. When will it be completed and when will the farmers get compensation,” he said.

Poonia later led a BJP delegation to the Raj Bhawan to give a memo t o g o v e r no r Kal r a j Mishra asking him to intervene and direct the government to complete the girdawari by October 15.

He said while the Gehlot government was insensitive to farmers, the government of prime minister Narendra Modi has decide t o use drones t o assess crops loss so that compensation is given speedily to farmers.

The new technology will be launched in 96 districts in the country on a pilot basis.

Congress spokesperson Satyendra Raghav said BJP was trying to make an issue of the law and order situation but it is under control.
