KOTA: Miffed over a family dispute, a man consumed poison and reached the office of SP (Kota Rural) on Monday.

Girriraj Mehra (35), a native of Ghaghtana village at Kaithoon in Kota district who lives in Kota city for work, was later hospitalised at the Government Maharao Bhim Singh Hospital, the police said.

Girriraj told media persons that his elder brother grabbed his two and a half hectare agricultural land in the village around 15 years ago and was not returning back. “I have lodged a police case against my brother at the Kaithoon police station and also gave a police complaint at the Kota Rural SP office a couple of days ago, but no action has been taken on my complaint, after which I was forced to consume poison today (Monday),” Girriraj said.

SP (Kota Rural) Rajan Dushyant, however, said that a letter was recovered from the pocket of Girriraj on Monday in which he has written that he has consumed poison to end his life, as his elder brother has illicit relations with his wife.

Dushyant said it is a case of family dispute. “Girriraj’s father favours him, while his mother is in favour of the elder son. Girriraj’s father had given a complaint at the Kaithoon police station on September 27 that his elder son does not let him go to the toilet in their house and ill treats him, after which the Kaithoon police had settled both the sides and the matter was disposed on October 11, but today (Monday) Girriraj arrived at the SP office over the complaint of his brother’s illicit relations with his wife.”
