Jaipur on top in crimes against STS

JAIPUR: Jaipur tops among 19 metro cities in crimes against Scheduled Tribes, as per the National Crime Records Bureau 2017 report.

While the number of crimes against STS has fallen in Jaipur as compared to the past two years, the city still has the highest crimes against STS, as per the report.

There were 46 crimes against STS recorded in Jaipur in 2017 as against 88 in 2016 and 101 in 2015. Jaipur accounts for 41.4 percent of the total share among the metros. Jaipur is followed by Hyderabad (Telangana) with 18 cases in 2017 and Surat (Gujarat) with 10 cases in 2017. Jaipur also holds third spot in economic offences and in cyber crimes among the metros.

In economic offences, Jaipur recorded 4318 cases in 2017. The number of cases has declined over the past two years as 4742 cases were recorded in 2016 and 5613 cases in 2015. However, Jaipur accounts for 14.9 percent of total share of metros.

Delhi with 4808 cases has the highest number of economic offences among the metros, accounting for 16.5 percent of the total share. Mumbai was a close second to Delhi with 4462 cases and accounting for 15.4 percent of the total share of metros.

Jaipur is again at third spot in cyber crimes. Not surprising­ly Bengaluru (Karnataka) is at top spot in cyber crimes followed by Mumbai. Bengaluru registered 2743 cases in 2017 accounting for 37.8 percent of the total share of the metro cities. Mumbai registered 1362 cases which is 18.8 percent of the total share of metros.

Jaipur accounts for 9.4 percent of the total share of cyber crimes in metros. HTC
