AICC PRESIDENT SONIA GANDHI HAD ASKED PARTY GENERAL SECY PANDE TO ASSESS

THE PERFORMANCE OF EVERY MINISTER IN THE STATE CABINET. THE REPORT WILL PLAY A KEY ROLE DURING CABINET RESHUFFLE

JAIPUR: Unhappy with the performance of state ministers and senior leaders in the assembly by-polls at two assembly constituencies, the All India Congress Committee general secretary and secretaries are prepari ng a r eport, which will be submitted to party president Sonia Gandhi.

A senior All India Congress Committee leader on conditions of anonymity said the party l eadership has gi ven cl ear directions time and again about performance, a key factor in political appointments and retaining ministerial posts but unfortunately in the by-polls many leaders and ministers remained either inactive or absent.

He said ministers and leaders were assigned respective duties and tour plans to the constituencies witnessing by-polls but many remained distant— there were available only during the visit of senior leaders such as chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, AICC general secretary Avinash Pande and secretary Vivek Bansal.

The All India Congress Committe in-charge though was not present throughout the poll campaign but was monitoring and constantly taking feedback from the ground.

Even the party candidates have briefed them of visits and activeness of ministers and leaders on the ground, he said.

All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi had asked Pande to assess performance of every minister of Rajasthan cabinet – the report will be playing a key role during cabinet reshuffle.

The complaints of ministers working and behaviour are being received by the leadership, which is also been taken seriously, he said.

Meanwhile, t he f ace- of f between ministers, workers and party office bearers too has been taken seriously by the All India Congress Committe and will be evaluated accordingly.

The party workers and office bearers has raised the issue of being unheard by the ministers – few days back a minister and party office bearer had a verbal tiff during a public hearing at state party office and the video was circulating on social media.

He said Pande will soon be holding a meeting with Gehlot and Pilot in view of the frequent statements made by the ministers against government decisions, which is giving opposition an issue to criticise and does not send a positive message to the public.
