Every convicted prisoner is allowed to leave jail on a furlough -- a short leave – thrice a year. The first furlough is for 21 days while the other two are for a week each, which could be extended depending on the prisoner’s circumstances for the short leave.

Jail officers said that while Ajay is likely to come out of prison on Sunday, his father Om Prakash Chautala has not applied for furlough.
