Gang involved in stealing oil busted, three arrested

JAIPUR: The Jaipur rual police on Tuesday arrested a gang involved in stealing chemicals and oil from tankers of a public sector company. Around 21,000 liters oil were also recovered from the spot.

Jaipur rural superinten­dent of police (SP) Shankar Dutt Sharma said that the district crime branch is running a special drive against organised crime. As part of the drive, the technical team was keeping an eye on suspicious people.

“On Tuesday, acting on a tipoff, a special team of crime branch and Shapura police station raided a road side eatery identified as ‘fouji dhabi’ located near Shahpura cross roads. During the raid, a tanker loaded with 20,000 litres of Hindustan Petroleum Company Limited (HPCL) diesel and another one with 8,000 litres of edible oil were recovered,” said Sharma.“the tanker with diesel was meant for Sirmor district of Himachal Pradesh from Mumbai. We are interrogat­ing the trio to find out the people who used to deliver tankers,” the SP said. He added the accused used master key to unlock the seal of tankers.

The arrested accused were identified as Abdul Kalim alais Kalu Bhai and Rafique, native of Doongri Ganj district of Uttar Pradesh and Shnakar Singh, native of Azamgarh district. Further investigat­ion is on.

In two days, Jaipur rural police have busted two gangs involved in stealing oil from highways. On Monday, two persons were also arrested for allegedly stealing diesel from trucks.

Five drums of 3,000-litre capacity and a tanker of 12,000-litre capacity belonging to Bharat Petroleum company were also seized.
