Police bust synthetic cheese supplying gang, four arrested
JAIPUR: The Jaipur rural police busted a gang accused of supplying synthetic cottage cheese and also seized two trucks on Wednesday.
Jaipur rural superintendent of police (SP) Shankar Dutt Sharma said that the district police is running a special drive against people involved in adulteration.
“The team was surveying suspects involved in supplying synthetic cottage cheese in district which was been prepared in Mewat area over last one month. On Wednesday morning, police received a tip-off that a huge stock of artificial cottage cheese is going to be sold in different markets of Jaipur,” said Sharma.
Acting on the tip-off, a special team of district crime branch was rushed to a sweet shop in Shastri Nagar area and caught the accused red-handed and arrested four. They recovered 2,000 kilograms of synthetic cottage cheese from their possession.
A team of central food security department also reached the spot and checked the sample. After verifying the samples, entire stock was destroyed on the spot.
The arrested were identified as Shaukat Mev, Imran Mev and Abdul Mev natives of Alwar district. The fourth accused was identified as Sharif Mev, native of Nooh district of Haryana. They were booked under section 420 (cheating)and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.
On Sunday, the Jaipur rural police received information that adulterated sweets and milk is being prepared in Morija area.
Acting on the tip-off, a team of police was rushed to the spot which raided the factory. During the raid, when the team of health experts checked the samples they found that they were prepared from skimmed milk powder and soyabean oil.
The police recovered around 150 kilograms milk-cake and 500 litres of adulterated milk and also arrested the owner. HTC
