Rajasthan police nab four in Uttarakhan­d

RUDRAPUR: Rajasthan police arrested four people including two women from Uttarakhan­d’s US Nagar after a man in Bharatpur filed a complaint that the two women duped his family of cash and jewellery worth ~8 lakh, said police.

“Ramkishan, a resident of Bharatpur had filed a complaint with the local police in September that he had got his two sons Bhura and Nahar Singh married to Bhawna and Kamla. Both the brides made the whole family unconsciou­s by mixing some drug in food and fled with jewellery and cash just a week after marriage. Team of Rajasthan police had come here after they got inputs that the two women were hiding here ,” said Umesh Malik, in-charge Kichha police station.

Malik said initially their location was traced in Baheri area of Bareilly i n Uttar Pradesh. “Rajasthan police reached there but learnt that these two women had shifted from there”, he said.

When the landlord of their house at Baheri was asked to call them, the two aides of the wanted women reached Baheri. “They were taken into custody by police. Following interrogat­ion, the police raided a house at Maharaya Road in Lalpur area of US Nagar on Tuesday and arrested both Bhawna and Kamla,” Malik said.

Malik said the landlord in UP had told police that these four people had took his house on rent three days back. “Police said they are members of ‘lutere dulhan’ gang (gang of brides) which has earlier committed such frauds in Rajasthan and Haryana”, he said.

Bharatpur additional superinten­dent of police Mool Singh Rana said that the four accused people have been arrested. “They have been brought to Bharatpur from Uttarakahn­d,” he said.
