Three get life term in jail for raping minor, forcing her into prostitution
POCSO COURT TRIAL Six accused freed; govt told to give monetary relief to survivor
JAIPUR: A special POCSO court of S r i Ganga n a g a r district announced life imprisonment to three persons, including a couple, accused of sexually exploiting a minor and forcing her into prostitution, officials said on Saturday.
Public prosecutor Gurucharan Singh Rupana said that the special POCSO court has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on the three accused.
On March 15, 2017, the minor, a native of Sooratgarh circle, had left her home after she had some argument with her parents over a personal issue.
When she reached Indira circle, three persons who were on a pick-up van, identified as Rakesh Kumar, Mangi Lal and Ummed Singh, l ured her and l ater abducted her.
“The accused took her to Bhat
Basti area where Mangi Lal raped her. He along with his wife Manju Bhat and Kumar took her to Khunja town in Hanumangarh. They took a house on rent, told the owners that the victim is their daughter and then forced the girl into prostitution,” said Rupana.
Months later after a joint operation the Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar police arrested nine accused including the trio and rescued the girl.
“The court in her judgment freed the six accused giving them a benefit of doubt and lack of evidence and has also written to government to provide the victim some monetary relief under victim compensation scheme,” said the public prosecutor.
The accused that were freed were identified as Ummed Singh, Bikar Singh, Neetu alias Narendra, Chaman Rai, Sagar Ram and Manik Barman.
