Honeypreet meets Dera chief at Rohtak prison
CHANDIGARH: Honeypreet Insan -the adopted daughter of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh -- met the jailed godman at Rohtak’s Sunaria prison on Monday. This was the first such meeting between them after the dera chief’s conviction in a rape case over two years ago. Accompanied by a lawyer and a dera functionary, Honeypreet spent nearly 40 minutes with the dera chief, officials said.
Honeypreet (38), whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, had accompanied Ram Rahim from the dera headquarters in Sirsa to a special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25, 2017, when the verdict in the case was pronounced.
After the dera chief’s conviction, she had accompanied him in a chopper to the Rohtak jail.
She was arrested on October 3, 2017. On Novemver 20, a court framed charges against Honeypreet Insan and 39 others in a case pertaining to the violence that broke out in Panchkula following the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in two rape cases in 2017.
The court of chief judicial magistrate Rohit Wattas framed the charges top dera functionaries, including Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of Ram Rahim, and other core-committee members under Sections 145 (joining or continuing in unlawful assembly, knowing it has been commanded to disperse), 146 (rioting), 150 (hiring or conniving at hiring, of persons to join unlawful assembly), 151 (knowingly joining or continuing in assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse), 152 (assaulting or obstructing public servant when suppressing riot, etc), 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC. The case will be heard on December 13.
