‘Mentally ill’ stabs father to death in Rajsamand

JAIPUR: A mentally challenged man allegedly stabbed his father to death with a sharp edged weapon in Rajsamand district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place in Chhapli village of the district falling under Dewair police station area.

Station house officer (SHO) of the Dewair police station Laxman Singh said that the accused Amraram Salvi who is around 50-years-old attacked his father identified as Pemaram Salvi (80) with an axe on his neck.

Responding to the news, the police along with forensic experts reached the site to inquire about the incident and collect evidence from the spot.

“Around 9pm on Monday, when Pemaram was sleeping, his son Amraram knocked the door. As soon as Pemaram opened the door, his son attacked him with an axe on his neck with full power. The attack was so severe that his neck got chopped-off and he died within minutes. Hearing the painful scream, other family members who were sleeping inside woke-up,” said Singh.

When the family members including t he brother and nephew of the deceased reached the room they were so terrified that they started shouting.

The alleged accused also tried to hit other family members but the neighbours reached the spot hearing the screams. “Fearing arrest, the accused fled the spot throwing the weapon he used to kill his father inside the room. The neighbors tried to catch him but in vain. He was later caught from the nearby forest area,” added the Dewair SHO.
