JAIPUR: A stakeholder consultation workshop for the second phase of the Delhi-gurugram-alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor was held in Jaipur on Tuesday, said an official of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the implementing agency for the project.

Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi governments have approved the detailed project report (DPR) of the first phase – from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to SNB (Shahjah a n p u r - N e e mr a n a - B e h r o r Urban Complex) – and it is under active consideration of the central government, the official added. Once constructed, the corridor is expected to bring down the travel time between Delhi to Sotanala (141 km) to around 90 minutes.

The Delhi-gurugram-alwar RRTS project is to be implemented in three phases. In phase I, Delhi-gurugram-snb Urban Complex (106km) will be constructed; in phase-ii, it will be extended from SNB to Sotanala (35km) and in phase III, SNB Urban Complex to Alwar (58km) will be constructed.

For the second phase – the Snb-sotanala corridor – the consultation workshop was held in Jaipur in which participants from various government institutions and departments of Rajasthan government took part.

“Detailed presentations on the salient features of Delhi-alwar RRTS project in general and SNBSotanala RRTS corridor in particular were given to the participants explaining the numerous benefits of the project,” said the NCRTC official.

Rajasthan chief secretary DB Gupta said: “We are witnessing rapid urbanization all over the country and Rajasthan is the leading state as far as urbanization is concerned. In the last 15-20 years, the urban growth has been phenomenal. RRTS will not only help address the issues arising due to urbanization but will also significantly reduce pollution in the region.”

A NCRTC team gave an overview of the project.

“D e l h i - G u r u g r a m- A l wa r RRTS corridor will be a gamechanger for transportation in the region. It will not only result in socio-economic development but will also bring people and places closer in NCR,” said NCRTC managing director Vinay Kumar Singh.

He deliberated on developing a modern and eco-friendly transport solution for the emerging industrial regions such as Bhiwadi, Tapookara and Khushkhera (BTK).
